My first but not last Heretic. The Manticore X is a big unit, but buttery smooth and not chunky to hold or keep in the pocket. The build quality is as good as it gets and the tanto blade I have with mine is a beauty. Now to decide what is next…

Just got the Heretic Manticore X Frag DLC in Black as my first Heretic purchase and wow and I impressed, I own Microtech’s Dirac, Hera Frag Signature series and Combat Troodon and now realized should’ve bought Heretic instead, the quality and attention to detail is far better than on the MT and compared to the Troodon the Manticore is flawless firing and ergonomically much more comfortable in the hand, the best part is price, I paid hundreds less for a superior knife, well Heretic you got me hooked and I can’t wait to own the ROC soon as I save up I’m ordering one, I’m Heretic for Life now!

    Manticore X Tanto
Absolutely amazing knive. Smoother in Hand and works finer, with less effort than my combat troodons. And the blade does NOT have this “stylish” holes that only catch dirt and stay clogged when you USE your knive.
    Absolute Convincing Stuff.
    More decent glassbreaker than MT.
Gonna switch my go to otf Brand…
    Thank you Heretic and Mike!!!

I’m 6’3″ and this is the perfect size knife for me. I’ve had the Manticore X as my EDC for over a year now and I’m still in love with it.

There’s a little more ware on the aluminum finish than I’d like, but it happens. I’ll probably have it refinished with ceracoat soon.

The blade action is still smooth. The magnacut steel is absolutely incredible. I own many S35VN knifes and the magnacut is significantly better, no question about it. I’ve only used a hone on it and it’s still scary sharp.

The blade also doesn’t move a ton like some other otf knifes. It’s pretty solid.

I’m so happy I purchased this knife and would recommend it to anyone.

This is my fourth OTF and is presently my edc. First was a blade show special Ultratech next was also a Microtech, the combat troodon. I then got the Benchmade Infidel and now this Heretic Manticore X.
I really like them all but each one is different. I wanted something a bit larger so I got the combat troodon. I got the double edge spear point model, however, about a week after I received it it accidentally got knocked off my desk and partially deployed. I reset it but after that the blade was terribly loose with movement in all directions and even rattled so I sent it back. Did research again and got the Benchmade Infidel which is a very highly rated OTF and used by professionals worldwide. It is an excellent OTF IMHO with great action and nicely sharp. The downside is that it is only sharpened with a chisel grind on the show side of the blade of this double edged spear point, and all the billboarding on the blade itself and pocket clip.
The Manticore X is a large sized OTF with a 3.7 inch recurve blade. It arrived nicely packaged with a small bottle of lube. The handle slabs are nice and comfortable with some texturing and jimping in all the right places use for use in various hand grips. The firing button is large, nicely shaped and not too aggressively jimped. The blade fires out and retracts with a firm push or pull on the firing slide. The blade flies out and back in with a nicely loud snap. The sound itself alone, of it deploying may deter a potential threat. The recurve blade is made of high end CPM MagnaCut steel which makes it very durable, strong, rust resistant, and has great edge retention.
    Definitely a keeper!

Amazing work guys. I’d be looking at the X for awhile and bumped into an Awesome 80’s Edition. Reviewers loved it, and I do as well. Super crisp in/out, screaming sharp blade, and great finish all around. And it’s Big! I’m excited to see future special editions. I also just bought a Bounty Hunte, The Predator has been calling my name for a bit too.
